What is a bundle?

A bundle is a group of feeds. When you sign up to use our service, you can create bundles of feeds. The original creator of the bundle is called the owner, and is able to setup the bundle anyway he/she chooses.A shared bundle means anybody who subscribes ("saves") the bundle can add or remove feeds from the bundle. However, the owner may choose to password protect the bundle, meaning only people in the loop will have access to modify the contents. The owner may also choose to hide the bundle, so that it doesn't show up in the search results.

What is a FeedBite?

A FeedBite is a keyword based bundle. A normal bundle will syndicate all articles found in the added feeds, a FeedBite will only syndicate the article if the specific keyword is found in the title or description of the article. It's a great way to monitor feeds for exactly what you are interested in reading from a wide array of sources.

What is a Feed Wiki?

A Feed Wiki is a shared news blog. A normal news blog doesn't allow others to edit your posts. With shared news blogs, readers will see an 'edit' link when viewing the bundle. This allows the reader to edit the actual content of the post.

How do I filter my bundles?

You can optionally filter your bundle using specific words by entering them in the "only show articles with these words" field. Match type "ANY" means if any of the words appear in the title or body of the post, then it would be included. "ALL" means only if all the words exist, "EXACT" means if all the words exist if the exact order entered into the field. As an example, if you add 2 feeds to a bundle, then all the articles which appear in those feeds will appear in the combined bundle feed. But, if you specified a filter of 'nfl football dallas cowboys' with match type "ANY", then only articles that contain the words nfl, football, dallas or cowboys in the title or description will be shown in the combined feed. It allows you specify exactly what you're looking for.

What is an RSS Feed?

RSS (really simple syndication) is a standard for publishing articles that can be used to have content delivered, rather then forcing you to go get it from some website. Most major news websites and bloggers now provide RSS feeds. Look for a little orange image with the letters 'XML' or 'RSS' and copy the URL (link) into your bundle.

How do I use an RSS feed?

Look for the orange 'rss' or 'xml' images and copy the URL (link) into your bundle. You can then read the articles by clicking on the bundle name from my 'My Bundles' page of your account.

What is a 'News Blog'?

Many people who read content from other sources wish they could add their 2 cents. News Blogs allows you to create your own RSS feed, much more easily then the other guys, and add it to any of your bundles. The best part of the News Blog option is the 'feed me' link you will find next to all the articles. While you're reading, if you find something interesting, just click that link and you can add the article to your feed and add your commentary. Just like that, with only a few minutes of work, you can compete with Matt Drudge. Also take advantage of the new FeedBite Firefox add-ons.

Why do I need a bundle for my news blog?

There is a hierarchy that must be followed, the system is just designed that way. Every feed, whether it's an RSS feed that you import or your own "news blog" that we host, must be within a bundle. However, you are free to create as many bundles as you want.

What does the 'ping' link do?

Each feed isn't checked for updates at every update cycle. This link will schedule the feeds in the pinged bundle to be updated in the next update cycle. Usually that will mean about a 5-10 minute wait.
